90 Days to go

I don’t have dreams very often, but my subconcious was working on some pretty dark stuff last night. Very interesting!

So there are 10 days down now since I started this journey prepping for the Paintball Combine, and I like the progress I’ve made so far. I now breathe exclusively through my nose all day long and through all of my workouts, and I’m fully aware of any accidental sighing or yawns and I’m able to correct them. My cardiovascular base is going to get BEASTLY. Right now my concerns/areas that need the most work are still Left Handed Gunfighting, including snap shooting and breakshooting, sliding and diving form, which I’ve done a decent amount of mental rehearsal with but I need the physical reinforcement. Of course there’s plenty else I need to work on, but I need to finish one sandwich before I begin another.

Speaking of sandwiches, I’m definitely eating too much sugar and carbohydrates in the form of bananas and apples, which is hilarious I can say that based on what I’ve been eating for the first 25 years or so of my life. So my body is pretty much out of Ketosis, but that follows the principle that you should put yourself in and then out of Ketosis to alternate your fuel sources.

Workout Details:

Genuinely cold this morning, regular hypoxic warmup jog.

Strength exercise – Super slow circuit of 1 pullup, 1 squat, 1 pushup, 1 set of snapshot leans, 1 set of lunges each leg. Painfully slow! Maximum range of motion. Two revolutions through the circuit and I’m done!

Outside Air Temp – 36 Degrees. It has only begun to get cold here in the Northeast

I performed the same test last night at work right before close, and although I didn’t really feel all that stressed, I was completely maxed out on the stress meter. Amazing what you can get used to!

Food: My wife made chicken salad – Chicken breast, avocado, cajun seasoning, coconut milk, italian seasoning, salt + pepper. And then an apple, some grapes, and a handful of crushed walnuts.

Time: 3 PM

Food: 2 Turkey Burgers with garlic/herb seasoning, broccoli, celery, cheddar cheese, green peppers, sauerkraut, tomato, xct oil, buffalo sauce, 1 apple, 1 banana, unsweetened iced tea with lemon

Food: Handful of crushed walnuts, 2 apples, 1 banana

Paintball Rant:

I may have said this already, but I am scared to death that paintball is going to get swallowed whole when VR finally hits its stride. When you can take the physicality out of it altogether, then literally anyone can play. They can now, but there is a stigma or some kind of barrier preventing them from jumping in. I hope that the paintball community can at least tap into that energy, because if now we will be completely bankrupt.

On the opposite side of the coin, there are more and more humans on the Earth and the number grows every day, which means more potential prospects for the sport. Maybe VR can help them get their journey with paintball started and steer them toward coming out to play. I believe VR will either make us or break us as a sport.
