Today is a closing shift at work 12:30-10:30, which sucks because that screws up my sleep for tomorrow. But, I do have time to get some good biohacking and paintball work done.
Sleep Data –
Apparently Sleep Cycle doesn’t like when you take phone calls while it’s running, so the Sleep data for last night is botched. Never had that happen before.
Thankfully, I do have some data from the Zoom HRV app, but I can’t get a graph of the whole night. I was in deep sleep from 10pm on until the graph starts – just take my word for it!

Today I spent some time on a closer analysis of the World Cup Layout. The dorito side is very interesting – you can pretty much gunfight down your own wire, but it looks like you really can’t do much to stop the snake until they get pretty deep in there. The offset Wall and the jumble of pins and towers keeps the Dorito 2 from having any clear shots on the snakeside backfield, but I imagine there’s some good blind shots and bounce shots to be had from there. Dorito 3 has some more penetration, but that seems like a spot where players are going to get in and sit crossed up to the snake side. I don’t know what they smoke before they design these layouts, but I hope they keep smoking it!
The Real Deal Podcast – 017
I miss the days when an Autococker was the most accurate gun you could shoot, and paintballs were one trigger pull for every ball. You had to be super-accurate to hit a guy! The beginning of the NXL was insane with full auto gats. I’m glad it slowed down, but I would still like it better if it was something like 10 bps semi-auto only. Theres so much paint flying around, you need to bring a case and a half (3000 rounds) just to take out the 5 opposing players, and the odds that you’re going to be the one to take them all out is slim-to-none. “Holding a lane” used to mean just watching a lane and keeping people from moving in or out of it, now I feel like it means “spray a case of paint this way so theres no movement whatsoever”. Where is the skill in that? Then what happens, you run low on paint and then it’s time to move? As a viewer, I hate how much paint there is.
