I’ve gotten some pretty good work done since signing up for the Combine. Now that there’s 100 Days left, let’s get serious. All of my HRV data will be coming from my Lifetrak Zoom HRV watch and the Zoom HRV app, as well as occasionally from the NatureBeat app.
Today I have work from 5am-3pm, with a half hour commute each way, so I’m going to have an early start.

On days that I open the restaurant, I spend a ton of time cleaning, and business is slow enough I can spend several hours listening to podcasts, as long as I do it while keeping busy!
The Real Deal Podcast – Episodes 005, 006, 007, 008, 009, 010, 011, 012, 013. Great Material! Great insight into how the game was at the time, I wish this show had never stopped. Matty Marshall is truly the voice of paintball, and we all owe him so much for providing us with brilliant commentary for all these years. I feel like there are so many names you don’t hear anymore, and they all come out in these interviews. Ryan Williams, Todd Adamson, Chris Lasoya, Skinny K, all the guys I used to idolize when I first discovered the wild world of paintball.
Yesterday on The Playing On Podcast I heard Justin Rabackoff give some background into his story. I wish I knew how awesome his father was about steering him into paintball when I met Mr. Rabackoff at the Atlantic City Open! It was funny, because I had my hands full of food and drinks for my family in the VIP seating, and I saw Steve Rabackoff talking to Chad Bouchez on the way back. I rudely interrupted, with an apology of course, but said that I recognized both of them and said thank you for such a great tournament, to which Steve replied thank you and Yaya was probably still pissed off that he had just gotten knocked out, so he didn’t say anything. But my hands were full so I got an elbow bump from each of them instead of a fist bump. Always great when you can meet the legends!
Teams like Avalanche and The Naughty Dogs should still be in circulation in the NXL Pro Division, especially for all that they’ve done for the sport. Maybe that’s where other sports have it right, there are never ever any “new” teams, everyone just joins an established name and represents them. The names change like…once in every 50 years?
How hard would it be to have a little Hall of Fame at every event – just the jerseys and a little piece of their accomplishments? I feel like the kids would spend so much time scouring the internet for footage of the greats that simply doesn’t exist, so they just have to rea, listen, and wonder.
Tomorrow I dont have work, so I can get up a little later and really put in a good workout. I can also get some functional training in!
